Lash extensions — everything to know before your first visit

Eyelash extensions are one of the fastest-growing beauty services in Estonia — feedback from the clinics in our directory shows that “eyelash extension refills” are the second most popular booking in 2026, right after facials. Before your first visit, though, there are a few important details worth knowing.

Types of eyelash extensions — the 3 main ones

Classic (1:1)

Each natural lash gets a single synthetic fibre. A natural look, suited to those who want a subtle, understated result. Price in Estonia: 60–90 €.

Volume (2D–5D)

Each natural lash gets 2–5 very fine synthetic fibres attached. Adds density, much like mascara. Price: 80–130 €.

Mega volume (6D+)

A more dramatic result — each natural lash gets 6+ fibres. Requires an experienced technician; a poorly done mega volume set damages your natural lashes. Price: 100–160 €.

How to choose a technician

• Portfolio. Ask for 10+ photos of the technician’s previous work before booking. Uneven distribution along the lash line, clumped fibres or “too long” lashes are signs of poor quality.
• Certification. A qualified lash technician holds a certificate from at least one international brand training (Lash Inc, Lashlovers, ReLash).
• Hygiene. Single-use lash pads and glue trays, fresh tweezer sterilisation between every client.
• Patch test. A quality technician does an allergy test before the first full set — 2–3 fibres on one eye to check whether the skin reacts to the glue.

Aftercare basics

1. The first 24 hours: don’t get them wet, avoid steam, skip the sauna. The glue needs 24 hours to fully cure.
2. Daily cleansing. Use an oil-free lash cleansing foam (not a regular makeup remover) and a soft silicone brush.
3. Don’t rub your eyes. The most common reason lashes come loose is rubbing them in your sleep. Try a silk pillowcase — or tuck a mini towel under your pillowcase.
4. Refill every 2–4 weeks. Don’t wait until 50% of the lashes have fallen out — a refill on top of a fuller set is cheaper and faster than doing a whole new set.

What to avoid

• The cheapest price on the market. A full set under 50 € usually points to a rushed, poorly done job or cheap glue (with heavy lash loss).
• Home jobs or “a friend”. Eyelash extensions done at home without commercial premises are a grey area in Estonia — there’s no hygiene oversight and no one to complain to if the result goes wrong.
• Refilling too often (more than once every 10 days). Refilling excessively often overloads your natural lashes and they break.
