How does HIFU SMAS lifting work?
The device focuses ultrasound energy at a depth of 3.0–4.5 mm, heating the tissue there to around 65–70°C. This localised heat creates micro-coagulation points in the SMAS layer (the fibrous membrane covering the facial muscles), which stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin over the following months.
A single session takes 30–90 minutes, depending on the area treated. The first results are visible right after the procedure, but the full effect develops over 2–6 months and lasts 12–18 months. HIFU works best for mild to moderate skin laxity; for significant excess skin, plastic surgery gives better results.
